Canadian producer Brian Johnson is a man who knows how to bring the heat, especially if his return to the Bohemian Yacht Club imprint is anything to go by. On the Ethnic Undertones EP, Johnson is at his prolific and inimitable best, as he serves up two sultry and effective originals that come primed with remixes by another BYC staple, Jamie Kidd, as well as newcomer Andrea Rango.

It's Johnson's ''Swag Show'' - complete with a stunning vocal contribution by Geneva - that gets us underway. Full of stuffy, sexy vibes, the track is being released to coincide with the label's boat cruise at Miami's upcoming WMC, and one quick listen and it's immediately apparent why this is the sort of number that'll soundtrack a debauchery-led jaunt on to the high seas.

First up on remix duty is Jamie Kidd, who retains much of the original's vocal and melodic charms. That said, his interpretation is more subtle and stripped back, and it's its sheer simplicity that marks it out as a track of undoubted excellence. Andrea Rango then toes the line between house and techno on his somewhat off-kilter remix; one that's undoubtedly suited to more peak-time floors.

Easing us out is ''Stay A While'', another gregarious insight into Johnson's production arsenal. Stuffed full of clever percussion and gliding chimes, it's crafted on a celestial tip that's every bit as melancholic as it is introspective. It's charming stuff – and a fitting end to an altogether captivating affair.
