Based in Paris between 1971 and 1978, the Lafayette Afro Rock Band were one of the toughest, funkiest session outfits known to mankind and have since become a staple source of samples and breaks for everyone from Janet Jackson to Public Enemy and Wreckx 'N' Effect. 'Darkest Light' brings together the band's finest material for the first time, including tracks recorded as their alter ego, Ice, alongside a handful of previously unreleased gems. Essential listening for any lover of the hard groove.
