Notes

Featuring the Laurie Holloway Trio.

From the sleeve notes:

If everyone making a living out of making music had Laurie Holloway's exquisite taste and wonderful talent then the world would be a better place.

I have known him for many years. A relationship which embraced hearing him play in pubs as well as concert halls, accompanying Kiri Te Kanawa as well as Judy Garland; playing everything from Harold Arlen to Honky Tonk.

In all that time the only concession I have known him to make to his music integrity, to his state aim of only working with the best was when he accompanied me in a recording of "As Time Goes By".

Our only excuse was that all the proceedings went to charity though it's hard to imagine sales were sufficient for the charity to get fat. When asked which label we recorded for, Laurie always answers "Oblivion Records".

People he accompanied will tell you he is the best. What is sometimes forgotten is how good an all-round pianist he is. This album goes some way to serving as a timely reminder of his talent. He is, as the album title suggests a piano player. And a proper one at that.
