"Troll for Trout" is the band's first release (December 1994) and is a four-song EP. The disc was recorded by lead vocalist and writer Michael Crittenden. Since the band was not yet regularly performing, Michael used an Ensoniq SQ-1 keyboard and sequencer to handle the drum, bass, and keyboard duties. After the basic sequencer tracks were programmed and printed to tape, he then, with the help of guitarist Pete Dunning and vocalist Jimmy LeValley, added guitar overdubs, percussion, and vocals. The CD was recorded frugally on a Tascam 4-track recorder in Michael's living room. It contains early versions of the Trout tunes "Mrs. Martin", "Rushes & Ripples" & "Coming Home". The disc also harbors a version of "The Balloon", which did not appear on a later Trout CD, but frequents their live show. 1000 copies were printed and sold. This CD is out of print and will not be reissued. There may be a copy or two floating around in retail stores. If you see one, get it!!
