Notes
Apart from the didgeridu (in Lovregana and Linah), each sound on this tape originated in the throat of some bird in the forest in which I live. I have played around/along with them electronically (Ensoniq Performance Sampler / Tascam Portastudio) to produce these pieces.
The titles are all Tasmanian Aboriginal words (from "A Wordlist of the Tasmanian Aboriginal Languages by N.J.B. Plomley). Tasmania's ancient musics have not survived but I like to think that I share a source of inspiration with those who once sang in this forest and looked after it so well.
Note on temperament: Bird do not sing in equal temperament! In these pieces I have experimented with a 12 tone just intonation tuning system.
