Shortly after opening night for the Broadway Original Cast, Dean Jones withdrew from the show, allegedly due to illness. He was replaced by his understudy Larry Kert. When the Original Broadway Cast traveled to London to reprise their roles, Columbia Records took Larry Kert into the studio to record new vocal tracks. This "new" recording featuring the new vocals laid over the original Broadway backing tracks was released as the Original London Cast recording.
