assembled from recordings made during cremation season, june/july 2008 in : amed, bangli, jasri, peliatan, tenganan, and ubud, bali. includes cremation drumming on a beach, wedding songs coming from a loudspeaker near the ocean while kids play football, sounds from temple grounds and rice paddies, children playing gamelan instruments in both an organized and chaotic manner (the former at a mass cremation of 54 people), a numerable amount of marching gamelan passing, including the ceremonial procession of the late head of the Ubud Royal Family (carried in a 27 meter high tower with subsequent gamelan beleganjur) and others, frog sounds and frog music, one of the oldest gamelan forms, a giant circular squeaky swing in which pretty maidens ride upon, monkey chant, and more. a collage presenting the integration of everyday life and nature with entertainment and ceremonial music on this hindu island. full color cover features photos taken by Linda Peschong, cdr, and xeroxed insert with information.
